DERBY FARM HOME - MORETOWN, VT
This stunning net-zero ready home designed by ELD Architecture boasts 3,400 sq ft of living space. The homes airtightness is .55 ACH/50, which is considered to be a very high-performance, energy-efficient building exceeding the typical Passive House standard of 0.6 ACH/50.
Featuring three bedrooms, and three bathrooms, with stunning views of the Northfield Range as you look out the triple pane windows (and doors) by Pella. With air-to-air heat pumps for heating and cooling the homeowners will enjoy every aspect of Vermont’s four seasons from summer to winter! White Oak flooring manufactured in Vermont by Mountainside Flooring, and the White Oak trim was milled at Wilson Woodwerkes in Barre, Vermont. The gorgeous custom designed kitchen was made in Roxbury, Vermont by Sirak Woodworking.

MAD RIVER VALLEY - WARREN, VT
This Net Zero, Mad River Valley custom built home received Efficiency Vermont Certification with a .79 ACH 50 air tightness (well below code)! The heating system is an air to air heat pump with integrated energy recovery ventilation. We used Siga Air Barrier, installed Solar Panels, and triple pane windows & slider by Kohltech. This home boasts 2,963 sq foot of living space featuring 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Sourcing locally, we installed Heartwood Ash Flooring throughout. Roots Builders created the custom ash vanities as well as the kitchen cabinets. The homeowners can enjoy the views from the expansive back deck, or sit under the covered front porch featuring local hemlock and pine trusses.

ELEMENTAL HOUSE - FAYSTON, VT
Our collaboration with Red House Building and Elizabeth Herrmann Architects, the 4,500-square-foot home in Fayston, VT, features Japanese-style shou sugi ban siding by Nakamoto Forestry; board-formed concrete, which employs the durability of concrete with the beauty of natural wood; ruggedly efficient European windows; attractive and harmonious acoustic wood ceilings; and epic, panoramic views of both Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen ski areas, and the surrounding Green Mountains.

MASTER SUITE & GARAGE - STOWE, VT
Our collaboration with MAPLE TREE DESIGN AND BUILD and the homeowner on this , beautiful addition in Stowe, VT features hemlock vertical siding, custom heated tile and ash wood flooring throughout. The addition included a beautiful new mudroom and laundry room, an extra storage area for mountain bikes and ski gear and a gorgeous master bedroom and bathroom suite. We built a new cedar deck with cedar and steel handrails to blend seamlessly with the new building attached to the existing home.

Roots Builders created this masterpiece from the ground up, including premium pine shiplap siding and high-quality Marvin windows.

MOUNTAINSIDE HOME - FAYSTON, VT
Roots Builders completed both the design & build on this project, which is oriented on the side of Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen. The home consists of 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, with a total of 3,000-square-feet of living space. The timber frame was cut by Dave Sills. This home features an amazing black walnut staircase with material sourced from Sharon, VT. Countertops are also black walnut. Radiant floors on the first two stories, with SIP panel construction (structurally insulated panels). The deck is large with incredible views of the Mountain.

CHASE FALLS HOME - FAYSTON, VT
Roots Builders completed both the design & build on this project. This home features 2,000-square-feet of finished living space, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. The timber frame materials were sourced locally from Vermont and cut by Moosedog Timberframe in Roxbury VT. This grid-tied home features solar panels to help offset heat and electricity consumption. The home features a simple but elegant exterior timber frame entry constructed of eastern hemlock and eastern cedar, and metal facia along with metal on sides of dormers for longevity. Flooring was milled and finished in Leicester, VT by a father and son duo.

Waitsfield artist Bette Ann Libby finds inspiration in her newly renovated Studio space, designed by Ellen Strauss.
This bright and airy sanctuary includes hemlock timbers, a high-performance energy insulation package, and energy efficient heat pumps for year-round comfort.

NET ZERO HOME - LINCOLN, VT
Custom net-zero family home, with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, creating 2,300-square-feet of finished living space. Designed by MB architecture + design, this home features double stud wall construction with R40 Walls, R60 Roof. Triple pane, in-line windows sourced from Canada were installed for their high R-value. Solar panels power this home using zero fossil fuels!
Kitchen was built by Stauffer Wood Works in Montpelier, VT. The steel staircase featured was produced by Fly Wheel Industrial Arts in Montpelier, VT. Heating system consists of a heat pump with a backup woodstove.

LAKESIDE HOME - LAKE IROQUOIS, VT
A wonderful collaboration with Winter Wood Timberframes, we worked together to complete this custom timber frame build on Lake Iroquois in Vermont. 1,600-square-feet consisting of 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Lots of custom steelwork, particularly for the staircase was incorporated into this beautiful home. The architect is Tim Duffy.
